 New!
Hi all, I'm Jamie, though most call me Jay. I am 28 and in the South West of England. I joined yesterday and am reading through the info about becoming ordained. You seem a welcoming bunch so thought I would say hello!

 Re: New!
Thanks all. Pete, I live very near "Brizzle". But closer to Bath actually. Just a couple questions, if anyone can answer: After being ordained online through this site, does that allow us to perform any ceremony? Do we require a prior permission from someone of 'higher' authority, say a local church before we arranged or performed a wedding or baptised a baby?! I just want to get the facts right before just "doing it" for sake of saying I'm a Rev.! Also are we able to get those cool wallet cards on the main site?

 Re: New!
Hi Jamie, I know its confusing but you did not get ordained by this site. One is ordained by either ULC HQ or ULC.net. It is no good going to a local church and expecting them to welcome you because they belong to a differing denomination and they will have rules about what they feel is an ordained minister. We are ULC ministers. It is not uncommon for differing denominations to not recognise each other. A Baptist minister would not be welcome in a Roman catholic church or visa versa. I recommend you read the following article on :- http://www.ulc.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=76The trouble at the moment is we are not large enough in the UK to swing any weight into being fully recognised as they are in the USA. However, If you are ordained by the ULC you do have the legal right to use the title Reverend or Rev. One should also note that you can legally perform marriages in the states providing you folow the rules of each the state you are in. Hope this helps.

 Re: New!
The monastry is a rogue ulc site and we have little to do with them. They present themselves as the official ULC site whilst not having anything to do with the ULC HQ. You can get most things from the ULC.net site. My advise is to go to them and forget the monastry exists. People ordained by the monastry do not get referred to the ULC HQ and I recommend people who get ordained there get re-ordained by the official sites like the ULC.net or ULC HQ.

 Re: New!
I went through ULC.net then later google'd it, and others came out such as monastery, I presumed they were all the same body. I will be cautious who I refer to. Thanks again!
