The Scots should make the most of their nationalism because it's not going to last.
Holyrood is really just a Regional Assembly.
You may think kowtowing to Westminster was bad.
When Brussells finaly takes over, the old days won't have seemed so bad after all.
 :yinyang:
And I kept a Scot out of a job for 20 years

Scottish Nationalism and other Nationalism are usually campaigning about more local democracy. The trouble is Europe does not make that possible. I once wrote to the liberal party because they say that they believed in local democracy and also are enthusiastic about signing up to the EU in everything. They never did give me an answer to my question. All they said was I should read more of their policies. Whatever they were it does not reassure me about the EU.
Bringing this back to religious matters, I promote the EU Human rights act and its quote about freedom of faith and expression but it still seems we are a way off of actually getting it. It seems for all the talk we get from the EU, somethings are very slow and other things seems just hot air.

Only 36% of the electorate voted at the last election.
For the NeoMarxists, this is a moral mandate for the abolition of democracy as we know it.
If you check out the South East of England Regional Assembly membership,
you'll see that a large proportion amongst the interest groups are charitable organisations.
What has become known as the Third Sector.
I was wondering if the ULC UK could become a charity?
Just a thought. :halo:

I do not know about becoming a charity. The site is paid for by a friend who does not often participate on the forum but supports us just the same. Everyone works for free and the site makes no money. I personally do not want to handle money. I may change my mind if we were any bigger and we had action groups but I would want it clearly independently audited should that happen.
One day maybe.

I was just playing devils advocate.
Charities have power, power brings recognition.
Recognition leads to membership of the Establishment.
I'd probably leave because then you'd have 'chips with everything'.

Zen. I do not own this site. I work for free as a moderator and an administrator of this site, and have done so since the beginning. I have tried to be democratic and consult and I do not actively seek any power. There are things whether I like it or not that have to be applied with with regard to the site and the reputation of the ULC. However, anyone who thinks I run the ULC within the UK or have an office of power is mistaken. We have banned members from the forum, in the past, just for trying to claim power over everyone in the UK. They claimed to be Bishops and the like. Please note the only title I give myself is Pete.
Each person is responsible for their own ministry and I have no power (nor do I want it) over each persons individual ministry.
If we want freedom of religion and thought in this country, it is not just for me, my personal faith, but all of us. The ULC in the UK forum is not a centre of power in the UK but a medium for ULC members in the UK.
If it became anything else then believe me, you would not be the only one leaving. I would too.
