I had a friend who had IBS for years. He discovered it was because he liked to drink squash and this did not agree with him. Cheese is often a possible cause too.

Funny thing is,after 30 years,I'm quite used to people suggesting things that I have been living with for 30 years.
And I'm also used to the "But do you eat?" questions.

For elucidation:1.I eat fish
2.I eat quorn
3.I've never met a vegetable I wouldn't scoff
4.I have IBS
5.It's getting worse
6.I also drink for England
7.But I refuse to accept that's got anything to do with it
8.So there

R O T F L M A O!!!

I've got IBS too but I had it so long before it was diagnosed, I sort of got used to it. But anything that does cause me outright trouble ie Coffee, some colmans mixes and most chicken tonight sauces get the boot!

Since when you been a veggie? lol

Pete is right I am not a veggie, however, I do like several vegetarian dishes! Food should be enjoyed for the taste, texture, smells and the pleasure of cooking, which having been a chef I still love to do.

I probably do most of the cooking at home and tend to use a lot of herbs and spices. Saying that I also like to cook some plain fare dishes such as a veggie white pudding which I have posted Here!

I just had a look at a site which shows which foods can trigger IBS

Might as well not eat anything but lettuce leaves if they all work against you

while pickled watermelon rind is not something i would want to eat, knowing what haggis is doesn't mean i would want it either(another yuck factor).however vegetarian haggis is great.espically the barley.

blood pudding sounds gross,as does blood sausage.but if people don't know what it is,some do enjoy it.

Eveyone is going on about this rind but there are worse things as this entry from gastroshark.com proves

Rotten Shark

Anyone for Rigor Mortis?
So you’ve been to the Blue Lagoon, done the Golden Circle and had the mother of all hangovers, but did you (intentionally) forget to try Iceland’s pièce de résistance , Hákarl (note - pronounced how howkarl)? And resist it you will because hákarl, aka rotten shark, smells like a men’s loo; a potent parfum of urine and toilet duck that leaves you gagging and gasping.

Hákarl is Iceland’s answer to foie gras, truffles and caviar, for this is a delicacy here and arguably the national dish (though the tourist board would like you to think it’s tourist-friendly).

Just as foraging for fungi and massaging sturgeons’ nether regions is highly enjoyable(enjoyable struck out on web page) skilled, so is the fine art of making hákarl. First, find yourself a Greenlandic shark and cut the flesh up into big strips. Then dig a pit on a gravel beach, far, far away from the nearest house, and throw the meat into the hole. Cover it up and leave it to decompose for anything up to 3 months. “Why would anyone want to do that?!!” I hear you scream. Well, sharks store their waste inside their body for complicated scientific reasons and as such their flesh has a high level of urea (that’s wee-wee to you and me). So letting it fester slowly under a cold beach will drain away all those nasty fluids and is a fitting punishment for such a vicious beastie that eats up Iceland’s cod stocks.

It’s not finished yet. Next you exhume the shark corpses, wash them (thank heaven for small mercies……) and hang the strips up to dry for up to 4 months. At the end of this the meat has a callousy thick brown crust around it which you need to slice off, and then cut the yellowy-white glutinous flesh into tiny tempting morsels……

Eaten on dainty toothpicks, it’s a bit like tasting cheese. Rather mature cheese in fact, left out for a few weeks and on to which the cat may have relieved itself. Eating hákarl also makes you finally understand how people can drink Brennivín , this being the only thing strong enough to alleviate the pain (pain struck out on web page) taste. But if you can get over the smell and how it’s made, hákarl doesn’t really taste like munching on a cadaver. Trust me –there are far worse things to eat in Iceland.

You can also see this being made on YouTube

I dont think I fancy pickled watermelon rinds. The recipe alone puts me off all that time preparing and I might not like the end result. Nah ! if you could get it already prepared in a jar I might give it a go just once....though reading the other comments I've never fancied trying the blood sausage thing either though my brother loves it :eew: and as for the shark thing :eew: :eew: I cant stand fish at all let them swim I say.
If I was stuck on a desert island then I'd be vegetarian. i wouldnt be able to kill an animal and as i said before the fish can swim :eew:
